Seven colleges in Lot-et-Garonne will be awarded for their commitment to organic farming in canteens

the important thing
On the occasion of the 2nd edition of the Week of Organic Products in Lot-et-Garonne, events will be organized in the 7 faculties of the department that have reached more than 22% organic products in their menus. At the end of the week, they will be assigned the label “Engaged organic facilities”.

We are going for a week to highlight the organic sector in Lot-et-Garonne. The ministry is using this operation to reward faculties that have accelerated the development of organic menus on the plates of Lot-et-Garonnais students. Recognition that results in badges and special events in schools.

It will all start this Monday, November 20, with the first leg at Duras College. The latter is a good student of Lot-et-Garonne, since it reached 30.88% organic products in its menus. Teaching teams will welcome Olivier Bernès, representative of the SainFruit network, during the lunch break at an event dedicated to organic fruits and vegetables. The same will be the case throughout the week, in six other institutions: College Ducos-du-Hauron and Jasmin-les-Iles in Agen, College Germillac in Tonneins, College Lucie-Aubrac in Castelmoron-sur-Lot, College Jean-Boucheron in Castillonnès and Kléber-Thoueilles college in Monsempron-Libos.

Students will thus get to know several ecological producers, those who contribute to the success of the “47 on our plates” program. The latter will present their products that the chefs and their teams work on every day. “Through these activities, the Department also wants to honor the educational teams, school managers and leaders, as well as the teachers who are sensitive to this approach who will implement the actions,” explains the community. At the end of this special week, during a market set up especially in the park of the Hôtel du Département, each college will be awarded the “Committed Organic Institution” label issued by Interbio Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

Strengthening the direct connection between producers and consumers, better understanding of products from organic farming and their health benefits, that’s the whole point of this 2nd edition of Organic Week!
