Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, “heaven for converted vans” – Saint-Pierre and Miquelon first

In her van, Carmen Gloria Figueroa Sotelo hit the roads this summer. Leaving Montreal where she lives, the young woman traveled for five days through the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon in search of a change of environment and a return to herself. And this trip is just one of many.

Carmen has been passionate about independent travel for over twenty years. She also traveled a lot with just her backpack. Southern Patagonia, Chile, Argentina and Iceland are among the countries she was lucky enough to discover.

Over the course of two years, Carmen developed a passion for road trips and decided to invest in a converted van to travel the roads of Canada. She didn’t drive before. “During covid, I learned to drive. So, travel opportunities opened up for me that I didn’t have before.” she confides.

A fan of the unexpected, Carmen immediately decided to drive to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon when she got the chance. “For years I dreamed of going to Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, it seemed so unattainable”

Once there, it’s dazzling for adventurers. “Saint-Pierre and Miquelon is a paradise for people who have a motorhome because you can set up almost anywhere with a spectacular view. You can hear the sea and everything, it’s beautiful.”

A trip a Canadian will remember. His next travel project is to send his van to Europe on an expedition next year.
